Who wants pretty paper?!!!
Updated: Feb 13
Everything you need to know for planning your wedding stationery.
This is simply an educational post about the many different pieces of pretty paper you can include in your wedding stationery list. We know you won’t know everything there is to know when starting your wedding planning journey and thought we would give you a little tool to use as it relates to paper needs! There are very few pieces of wedding day stationery that are mandatory, but they surely are extremely pretty and can be so helpful for your guests.
Let’s take a look at your options.
Save the dates
Save the dates are for giving your guests advance notice of your upcoming wedding date and can be extremely helpful for those guests who have to make travel plans to attend
Invitation …and the Suite
Your invitation is where guests will find out the who, what, and where for your wedding. It is the first thing most guests will see, if you decide to go without save the dates, and will set the tone for the type of wedding you plan to have. It goes ahead of you to announce your expectations for those invited, giving them a sense of style and personality that only you and your soon to be can convey.
An invitation suite can include a number of things besides the invitation itself. Most invitation suites will have along with the invitation
· an outer envelope: lists the guests full names, address, and is stamped
· an inner envelope: names more specifically who is invited to the wedding
· a response card: for the guests to advise of whether or not they plan to attend and gives you a more accurate guest count of those planning to attend; also, if you are asking it tells of their menu options and/or selections
· self-addressed envelope: for mailing the response or RSVP card back
· additional enclosures: an example of an additional enclosure would be a card for directions or a map
Programs show the order of the ceremony by giving an outline of when things will take place. You can create this as a handheld item or you can create one large program to showcase as signage.
Escort cards are created to assist guests with finding their assigned table. Escort cards will most times only list the person’s name and a table number.
Table numbers assist with assigned seating for plated or formal dinners.
Place cards tell guests which seat at their assigned table belongs to them and will often simply list their name.
A menu card simply advises of the menu selections to be served during dinner
An add-on can be anything from water bottle or champagne bottle labels to wedding favors. It is best to approach this option with whatever you ideas are and explaining them to your stationer.
Dance floor decals
Dance floor decals are just another way you can showcase your style as a couple and your personalities
Thank You cards
Thank you cards from your stationer can match wonderfully with the design of everything you have already purchased and is the final touch from your wedding day flair while expressing your gratitude to all who took part in your special day
We hope this post sheds light on a few of the many things you will be introduced to during your wedding planning experience. If you happen to need help, we suggest hiring a planner…shameless plug 😊.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
